Hello everyone! Today I’m posting the Trim Healthy Mama update for my fourth week on plan! We are quickly nearing the end of January, so this is the last update for this month! (If you don’t know what THM is, you can read this post for a simple explanation.)
If you’ve been following along and keeping up with my other updates about Trim Healthy Mama, then you already know that I wanted to give the plan a try during the month of January. So now you may be wondering… what are my thoughts about the plan, and will I be sticking with it in the future?
Before I get into my answers, though, I would just like to state that I am not a doctor, dietician, or professional in any way, and I’m just giving my opinion. 😊 You can read my full disclaimer here.
Anyway, as far as my opinion goes, I think the THM way of eating is well balanced, and I think it would be a good method of losing weight in a way that’s not the “eat only tiny amounts and salad,” kind of way.
I also like the fact that you can adapt the meals you eat for times of pregnancy/nursing. I did not follow the plan during either of my pregnancies, but I believe the inclusion of protein with every snack and meal is a great method to follow, and would help ensure that you’re getting enough protein during those seasons of life, as well as help to maintain proper blood sugar levels. That’s not to say you couldn’t still develop gestational diabetes or other issues during pregnancy, but it wouldn’t hurt to do what you can to avoid it!
It seems to me that following the Trim Healthy Mama style of eating is also a healthy way of maintaining a reasonable weight during other seasons of life. You can adapt the plan for different stages, and focus on different meal types for different types of needs. This all depends on your body and individual needs.
So, will I continue with the plan? My answer is yes, I do plan to keep up with my S and E meals, as well as those Crossovers! 😉 However, I may not be so strict as to never have a few regular tortilla chips, and I’m sure I’ll enjoy off plan foods sometimes, especially when eating out. Since we don’t eat out all that often, though, I’m not constantly tempted with “cheat” items, which is helpful when you’re trying to stay on plan.
Another thing I would add is that you can try preparing meals in different ways, even if you’re using the same ingredients, to give you a little more variety. If you’re eating a lot of cauliflower or spaghetti squash, maybe try using it in a different way each week to learn new ways of preparing dishes so you don’t get tired of them. 😊
Anyway, I hope that you will continue to strive for a healthier lifestyle, even if you made a New Year’s resolution, and you might be losing a little bit of steam. Just because the first month of the year is almost up, I hope that you won’t give up on your commitments. If you have chosen a restrictive diet to follow, maybe trying something like Trim Healthy Mama could help you to stick with it, and not feel like you “can’t have” so many of the things you want to eat. Just a thought… 😊
Anyway, I hope you all will have a wonderful day, and don’t forget to check Instagram for extra content that might not get posted here on the blog!
