Hi everybody! It’s time for the next Trim Healthy Mama update! In case you didn’t already know, I’m trying the THM plan for the month of January. If you’re not familiar with the plan, you can check out my first post from this month to learn a little bit about it!
Anyway, let’s got on with the update for the past week…
I would say that the last week has had its set of challenges… not eating tortilla chips and crackers can be difficult when you’re someone who really loves carbs! I think that may actually be what I’ve missed the most… not having that “crunch.” I probably could enjoy a few tortilla chips and be within the bounds of the plan, I just decided to go without instead.
I also had a couple of “off plan” items yesterday, but for the most part I’ve stuck to the guidelines. You see, it’s easier to avoid the foods I’m trying not to eat when I’m at home and I don’t even buy them… it’s another thing when I’m out and about, and it’s not like I’m bringing a bag of food everywhere just for myself! But that’s okay, and I realize I have to have balance, but at the same time I probably shouldn’t just give in every time I’m out and say “oh well, I already had a cheat, so I might as well go for it and drink a milkshake, too!”
On a better note, I think eating protein with every meal and even snacks is a good idea, especially for someone like myself who does love bread, crackers, and carbs in general, since I have to balance that out with a source of protein. And instead of “grazing” throughout the day, I’m more conscious of my snacks and make a point to eat a good one!
So I’m still chugging along, and I’m hoping to get a post up soon with pictures of some of the THM meals I’ve had lately!
