Chocolate Chip Sourdough Skillet Cookie

So by now you all have probably figured out that I like using my sourdough starter. And yes, I’m sharing another sourdough recipe today. For this recipe you’ll be using a “fed” sourdough starter, so if yours is in the fridge, go ahead and pull it out and feed it so it will be ready for you to make this chocolate chip skillet cookie later on, because of course that’s what you’ll want to do after reading this, right? 😉

You’ll start off by melting half a stick of butter in a medium size skillet. Once it’s all melted, or nearly there, remove it from the stove.

Now add the sugar, vanilla, and egg, and combine well.

Next up will be the sourdough starter, baking soda, and salt. Make sure to mix everything together well.

And lastly, add in those chocolate chips! I added some on the top of this cookie after mixing in the one cup this recipe calls for, but you don’t have to if you don’t want… they sink to the bottom during the cooking time, anyway!

Now you can place your ginormous cookie into your oven (preheated to 350 degrees) and bake for about 25 minutes, or until cooked through.

Once it’s cooked, scoop it out into your favorite bowl and top with some vanilla ice cream for a special treat… or you could just enjoy it by itself, if that’s how you like it!

Chocolate Chip Sourdough Skillet Cookie

4 TBSP butter (I use salted)

1/2 cup sugar

1 egg

1/2 tsp vanilla

1 1/2 cups active sourdough starter

1/2 tsp baking soda

1/4 tsp salt

1 cup chocolate chips

Place butter in a medium size skillet over medium low heat until melted. Remove pan from heat.

Add in the sugar, vanilla, and egg, and mix well. Next, add the sourdough starter, baking soda, and salt, and mix again. Now combine the chocolate chips with the rest of the mixture (the chocolate chips sink to the bottom as the cookie bakes).

Place the skillet in a 350 degree oven for about 25 minutes, or until cooked through. Scoop into bowls and enjoy!
